Sandpiper I recently acquired this 36"
pond model which had been purchased from a seller in England four years ago.
I was told it is a 36/600 pond model. The dimensions are :

vmyg comment. Clearly this is not a 36/600. It could be a 36R, in the sense that it will probably fit into the 36 x 9 x 11 box, but it is shy of the maximum dimensions by a good deal and also well under the 12 pound maximum displacement. Even in the very earliest days of the Rule, I don't think designers gave away displacement and stability to this extent. I think it is more likely to be a non class yacht that happens to be 36 inches long. This is reinforced by the absence of a proper Braine gear, which was an essential fitting for any seriously intended racing model by the time the 36R originated in 1930.
