Nigel Hancock's table display included a number of interesting things
as below including 9", 10.5" and 16" round stern SY hulls
all probably pre-war.; a MK 2 turned from a bottle, split and hollowed
with an unusual short eliptical stern and a less common badge. I understand
it's obscure and post-war. It looked innocently charming and nicely
knackered; I began to realise that with Stars as much else in collecting,
it's about establishing the rules and then finding the ones that attractively
break them. I pass on the code passed to me, for starters (and doubtless
will hear it's not quite right!)
BR Bermuda Rig: to distinguish presumably from earlier(?)
gaff and gunter rigs.
SB Super Bermuda: the larger Bermuda rigged models.
SY Solid Yacht: i.e. hulls, not Star Yacht.
MK Metal Keel: (didn't they all have?)...with hollow hulls.
RS Racing Special: Bermuda rigged and like hens teeth.
RC Racing Cutter: and even rarer.
The digit following is a designator for overall hull size.

This boat is a 16" SB1 and sports the brass badge of pre-war boats.
She was the smallest super Bermuda made.

The SY with the green strake is a 16" pre-war boat with elliptical
stern is is even more delightfully knackered!

Somebody had these for sale.....

.......and AW's SY7 proved how well the gunter cutters can go

And finally something completely different! A rather fine 30's style
cabin cruiser with strange keel and a huge and powerful clockwork motor
typical of Bing for BL in the inter war period. Geoffrey Turner told
how he had it on ebay for under £10....Hmmmm.
