Many owners find that radio control is a necessity for general use
but do not want to modify their yacht significantly. One approach which
works reasonably well is to provide rudder-only control. A simple
receiver and rudder servo assembly, can be made and fixed to a replacement
hatch cover. Two lines from the servo lead to the Braine quadrant,
the lines being adjustable with bowsies.
The system is readily removeable and requires no modification to the
yacht itself.
A full two channel conversion can be done in a similar manner if the
hatch is large enough but the sheet control will need some extra deck
fittings
